What YOU Will Do


In collaboration with other members of the department, the incumbent acts as legal counsel in commercial law matters to support the day-to-day activities and operations of the company (Pomerleau and its subsidiaries).

As part of their duties, the legal counsel will assume the following tasks and responsibilities, among others:


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, analyze, comment on and negotiate different types of contracts (including various types of construction contracts, subcontracts, service contracts, etc.);
  • Advise project team members on all legal matters;
  • Maintain and update the template bank and certain corporate documents of the company and its subsidiaries;
  • Review, analyze and comment on documentation for public tenders, including alternative mode projects;
  • Answer questions of a legal nature, and provide support and assistance to members of the company assigned to operations on various projects;
  • Coordinate and collaborate with external legal advisors;
  • Any other related task connected with the operations of the company and its subsidiaries.

What YOU Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in law and membership in the Quebec Bar (membership in a law society of another Canadian province will be considered an asset);
  • Approximately 5 years' experience in commercial and corporate law;
  • Relevant experience in PPPtype contractual agreements (will be considered an asset);
  • Working knowledge of the construction industry;
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills;
  • Strong legal argumentation skills, both written and verbal;
  • Fluency in French and English;
  • Good knowledge of computer tools and workrelated software;
  • Good judgment, initiative, leadership, autonomy, versatility and team spirit;
  • Solutionoriented and analytical;
  • Ability to work under pressure and execute tasks under tight deadlines;
  • Ability to manage several files simultaneously;
  • Willingness to travel on an occasional basis to different regions of Canada where workrelated representations will be required.
