Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time permanent Strategic Buyer position at our manufacturing hub in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
We are seeking a professional with an exceptional attention to detail and a strategic mindset to navigate the intricacies of the aerospace industry.
Essential Responsibilities
- Cultivate strong supplier relationships for continuous cost savings and quality improvements.
- Evaluate longterm production forecasts to identify supply opportunities and risks.
- Lead procurement negotiations and manage agreements within the purchasing department.
- Guide and mentor buyers in costsaving initiatives.
- Analyze purchase and production costs, identifying opportunities for reduction.
- Participate in program status meetings to address supplyrelated risks.
- Resolve repeat nonconformance issues and lead quarterly Supplier performance reviews. Support Operational Buyers with Production Readiness Reviews and Back to green plans
- Supplier development by identifying new sources to improve our supplybase.
- Collaborate with Contracts to incorporate customerdriven changes.
- Update Customer surveys and identify Long-Term Agreement (LTA) opportunities.
- Lead customer RFP requests
- Initiate pricing discussions with suppliers to support budgeting activities.
- Submit timely reports for precise forecasting and financial planning.
- Serve as an Analyst, extracting data for comprehensive reports. Adapt strategies to industry changes for optimal procurement outcomes.
Position Requirements
- Postsecondary technical or business diploma (SCMP, CPSM, CPP, MBA, CPIM, CIM certification or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience; or 10 years relevant work experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders
- Understanding of MRP/ERP system (SAP/CINCOM experience is preferred)
- Must be able to travel when needed
