What do you offer?


The Camp Coordinator of Green Initiatives implements, facilitates and oversees the delivery of quality recreational programs, services and experiences to children and youth aged 4 to 16 enrolled at Camp Otonabee.

The Camp Coordinator of Green Initiatives functions as part of a team tasked with supervising program participants as they engage in outdoor activities, discover nature and enjoy the natural environment, build self-confidence and establish lasting friendships.


Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Developing and delivering Green Programs for campers, such as visiting the pollinator garden, completing nature walks, and planting seeds around camp.
  • Managing the lost and found at camp to ensure items are going home with campers, to try to prevent waste at the end of the summer.
  • Overseeing the recycling program for Camp Otonabee.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

Language

  • Ability to work in English
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Standard First Aid and CPR "C" or equivalent
  • Knowledge of proper recycling and composting processes
  • Knowledge of landbased outdoor education programs is an asset (e.g., creating pollinator gardens)
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with program participants, members, staff and volunteers
  • Ability to read and follow cleaning and safety standard to complete assigned duties to the quality level established
  • Experience in landscaping duties, including lawn care, wood chipping, and raking is an asset

Additional Requirements

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • Semiannually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
