What you'll be doing


The CIBC Capital Markets and Treasury Global Process Owner (GPO) team is a point of contact to the business and infrastructure partners on strategic projects, initiatives and ad hoc requests and provides both analytical and initiative support.

As a member of Finance Operations, the Intermediate Financial Analyst within the Accounting GPO team plays a crucial role in conducting complex accounting investigations and implementing continuous improvement initiatives related to Finance processes supporting both the Capital Markets and Treasury accounting teams.

The Intermediate Financial Analyst offers skilled advice to our partner infrastructure groups (Technology, Trade Control, CFO, and other Finance teams) on transacting new products and system setup.

Further, the Intermediate Financial Analyst will also play a critical role to investigate and monitor discrepancies between the general ledger and the trading systems, propose strategic solutions to reduce GL breaks, and assist in the implementation of these improvements with our Technology partners.

How you'll succeed- Financial analysis - Research and analyze specialized financial information, recommend, and implement solutions to issues and problems that arise during the ongoing operation of business.

This role will focus on automated solutions and proper product system mapping.- Relationship management - You have good teamwork, partnership and relationship building skills sufficient to act in a collaborative manner given team members and stakeholders different backgrounds and experiences.

You will liaise with Finance, Front Office and other stakeholder groups on accounting technology for new initiatives/processes to ensure efficient issue solutions.- Project management - You have highly developed organization and prioritization skills in order to handle multi-tasking, balancing and prioritizing a number of projects, processes and problems given a work environment of increased expectations around control, service, and accounting transparency.

You are a problem solver, self-starter, taking hands-on approach, able to deal with moderately complex finance issues.- Analytics development - Lead analytics development projects with key stakeholders and business specialists.- Transformation - Participate in and drive continuous improvement and assist in development of new systems and processes to enhance the overall efficiency of the department.

You will work together with others to identify business requirements and provide analytical or financial support to facilitate effective decision-making in the Capital Markets business.

You will also offer insights on issues, help in the recording of trades using systems such as xTrader, ADP, WallStreet, Bloomberg TOMS, and others, and use your knowledge to assist managers, other Finance staff, or other areas of the Bank.
