Position Summary
CIMCO Refrigeration is looking for a Production Manager to work within our Manufacturing Division.

We are a high mix/low volume custom manufacturing facility that fabricates a wide range of products including ASME Code pressure vessels, standard and custom piping subassemblies, skid mounted pre-piped packaged equipment assemblies, and electrical control panels.

You will be responsible for providing supervision for all of our fabricated products.
Role Responsibilities

  • Manage fabrication schedule for several orders simultaneously
  • Supervise and direct a team of skilled unionized workers
  • Develop detailed shift plans for a day and afternoon shift crew to optimize manpower utilization
  • Develops, implements, enforces, and maintains safety standards, policies, and procedures in compliance with Company Policy and Provincial laws and regulations to eliminate accidents and injuries
  • Continuously seek ways to improve productivity and quality
  • Makes recommendations for changes in staffing to meet workload demands
  • Monitors progress of work and modifies priorities as required
  • Recommends, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, and standards for all aspects of the work performed
  • Assesses training needs for subordinates, develops training programs, and trains new and existing staff as required
  • Involved in recruiting and onboarding of new staff
  • Conducts regular safety audits of the shop floor and performs investigations as required
  • Reviews fabrication inspection and test plans developed by the Quality Control (QC) Department and implements hold points on the shop floor; advises QC department regarding readiness of work for inspection
  • Ensures welders are following approved welding procedures
  • Coordinate with various internal groups: shop floor, engineering, quality control, warehouse, and purchasing
  • Manage subtrades
  • This is a dayshift position however, it may be necessary to move to afternoon shift temporarily if required
  • Assist with facilities management when required
Required Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment involving welding
  • Has practical knowledge of metal fabrication as it pertains to ASME VIII1 pressure vessels and heat exchangers, ASME B31.5 refrigeration piping and B31.3 process piping
  • Is able to assign welding work on the basis of welder performance qualifications in accordance with ASME IX
  • General knowledge of nondestructive examination (NDE)
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings
  • Strong knowledge of General Tolerancing & Dimensioning
  • Comfortable operating computers and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to work alone or in a collaborative team environment and accept responsibility for work performed
  • Strong time management skills able to deal with conflicts and meet deadlines
Understanding of CBA and ability to negotiate with union personnel
Able to work within the CBA and follow binding contracts as laid out in the collective agreement.


Education Requirements:


  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma or equivalent, preferably in technical fields of study
