Position Summary


The
Technical Writer completes the Quality assurance and editing of technical publications work submitted by suppliers for visual, audio-visual and hardware type training aids that provide technical instruction on Company product and on-the-job training.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure technical accuracy, proper organization, and typography
  • Work with other areas of De Havilland (Core Engineering, Airworthiness Engineering, In-Service Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Reliability, Maintainability and Safety Engineering) to ensure the scope of the work is clear and meets their intent
  • Quickly research to respond to technical queries and initiate corresponding corrective actions
  • Work with Tech Pubs team to determine training requirements, required guidelines, templates, and ensure they are kept current
  • Work with suppliers and internal personnel to ensure departmental processes are mapped, validated, and adhered to.

Education and Experience:


  • Graduated from a recognized technical college and/or military aerospace training
  • Previous experience with De Havilland and/or Viking Aircraft Technical knowledge is an asset
  • Experience with ATA and S1000D specifications for Technical Publications
  • SGML or XML experience is desirable
  • Experience utilizing Six Sigma or Lean Methodology is a definite asset

Skills:


  • Able to understand and interpret aerospace engineering drawings specifications and processes
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Knowledge of Quicksilver, Framemaker or S1000D authoring platform
  • Must be a team player, as well as able to work independently
