Mississauga ON

Responsibilities:
Your duties as a Health and Safety Specialist for Warehouse and Transportation will include but are not limited to:

  • New hire safety orientation, managing safety protocol for material handling equipment, warehouse assets and trucks/trailers. This will include maintaining appropriate training records per regulations or Company requirements.
  • Develop, organize, manage, maintain and administer the Health and Safety program in collaboration with health and safety committee
  • Identity safety training requirements, make recommendations to Safety Committees and schedule the training as approved and required
  • Assist in the identification, development and provision of appropriate health and safety related information, instructions, and training (i.e. health and safety handbook and newsletter)
  • Conduct safety training within the scope of his/her experience and certifications
  • Complete internal audits as required
  • Complete hazard assessments of all job functions
  • Maintain a WHMIS program, including a current MSDS and staff training
  • Maintain good relationship with Workplace Health and Safety field officers
  • Ensure appropriate and sufficient safety equipment's is available to all employees
  • Work closely with managers, ensuring their workers comply with safety legislation while at work
  • Coordinate the review of health and safety related policies and procedure
  • Ensure all equipment is certified, conduct a test on the generator every months
  • Ensure all supervisors are getting their team crew circle check
  • Provide information to employees on health and safety
  • Lead the Health and Safety Committee.
*Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks

*Develop and enforce OSH policies (e.g. accident reporting process)

  • Direct accident investigation procedures
  • Keep records of safetyrelated incidents and propose corrective actions
  • Organize and conduct OSH training plans
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
  • Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OSH matters
  • Create Health & Safety newsletter and post it on the H&S board monthly

Educational /Technical Experience:


  • Trainer the trainer forklift certificate
  • First Aid certified
  • Superior knowledge of machine guarding and lock out tag out of manufacturing Equipment
  • Previous experience working with regulatory bodies such as the Ministry of Labour and Ministry of transportation would be an asset
  • Able to develop and implement Job Hazard Analysis program
  • Able to identify and integrate into safe work methods high impact

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Supplemental pay types:

  • Overtime pay

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Mississauga, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
