HOUSING DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
The Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society (VAFCS) is a non-profit charitable organization serving the Urban Aboriginal community with amission to provide programs and services that will contribute to the cultural, educational, social, economic, and recreational development of Aboriginal People; and to support the objectives of Aboriginal self-determination.
The VAFCS is seeking a Housing Development Manager to lead the planning and delivery of a range of housing options to address the needs of the Indigenous community in metro Vancouver.
Position Summary
The Housing Development Manager, in consultation with the Executive Director, is responsible for overseeing the initiation, planning, design, risk assessment and delivery of a portfolio of complex and diverse housing and specialized housing developments/projects through all predevelopment and project development phases, from initiation through to execution of housing agreements to warranty inspection and occupancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities for housing projects, including grants, loans, and other financing sources. Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies and organizations to secure the necessary funding.
- Identify real estate opportunities for diverse housing developments in target areas, potentially through partnerships with other nonprofit and forprofit groups.
- Develop collaborative relationships with local stakeholders and participate in relevant community outreach and consultations and stakeholder meetings.
- Coordinate with other housing and community development agencies, municipal, provincial, and local agencies, housing authorities and private sector developers on housing and community development matters, policy formulation and funding strategies.
- Develop housing related budgets and make informed decisions based on operational budgets, capacity, and agreements with input from the finance department.
- Develop knowledge, and document processes for securing capital, operating and services resources; land use regulations that impact affordable and subsidized housing development; and public and community leadership.
- Oversee multiple housing projects in various phases of development, working closely with other VAFCS team members, legal counsel, accountants and consultants.
