WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

What you'll be making - $16.55 per hour

When you'll work:


  • This position is 35 hours per week for approximately 8 weeks; within a rotating schedule that includes days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

  • Support and assist clients to perform personal care activities
  • including but not limited to dressing, changing briefs, elimination, toileting and bathing.
  • Prepare and serve daily meals
  • Work with clients and help motivate/support them to work towards the achievement of their goals
  • Assist clients with community integration through supported outings
  • Champion each client's capacity for independent community living
  • Plan, organize, and support client in meaningful activity in a community setting
  • Facilitate and implement resident meetings
  • Crisis intervention and prevention
  • Assist and coach clients in the learning and management/achievement of activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, daily chores, budgeting, socialization, etc.
  • Advocate for and support clients in accessing community resources
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation
  • Medication monitoring, administration and support
  • Ensure effective communication with Director, Managers, staff team, and external treatment teams concerning client's progress
  • Identify, promote resolution, and management of all emergency situations concerning residents, staff, and property
  • Make decisions both independently and collaboratively
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks for a safe and comfortable environment for the clients

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

_ We require the following qualifications:_

  • Canada Summer Jobs requirements:
  • Will be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and am legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- (Note: International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.)

  • Completion of or current enrollment in postsecondary education in a health or social service field of study; education/enrollment in an educational program to become a Personal Support Worker, Development Service Worker or Registered Practical Nurse and/or experience in providing personal care is strongly preferred
  • Interest in working with those with mental health and addictions concerns
  • Ability to attend work regularly

  • Knowledge of addiction/mental health and recovery
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of computerized documentation methods
  • Experience in personal care and support
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills
  • Safe Food Handling Certification
  • Experience working in a residence setting
  • Health and safety knowledge
  • Ability to recognize and guide potential conflict situations
