Job Description:


Reporting directly to the Director, Acute General Medicine, Critical Care and Transitions, the Clinical Services Manager is a key member of the Medicine program's leadership team.

Leading an inter-professional team of passionate and highly skilled clinicians and team members, the Clinical Services Manager is responsible for three service areas within the Medicine program: General Medicine inpatient unit, Medicine and Palliative Care inpatient unit and blood collection services.

With a focus on quality and experience, the Clinical Services Manager will have overall accountability for ensuring that patient care is provided safely and competently, and that human, fiscal and material resources are managed effectively.

Accountabilities:

  • Develops and implements the operational and program strategic plans and/or initiatives in collaboration with the program leadership team
  • Identifies areas for improvements, secures resources and implements efficient processes/structure required for safe and efficient operations
  • Evaluates data and provides feedback to the team on findings to drive timely delivery of exceptional services
  • Works collaboratively with the clinical educator, resource nurse, staff and partners in improving practice, processes, adding value, raising standards, improving effectiveness and delivering high team performance
  • Monitors and works to improve patient, family and staff engagement results in collaboration with relevant partners
  • Fosters an engaged, highperforming workforce, seeking and implementing opportunities for improvement
  • Promotes a collaborative and respectful professional practice environment and fosters an interdisciplinary approach to safe patient care and a positive care experience
  • Hires, mentors and coaches staff performance as determined by human resource policies, union agreements, legislation and standards of practice
  • Develops, monitors, controls and evaluates budgets and staffing plans, with support from business and financial partners
  • Develops processes for selecting, evaluating and maintaining material/equipment needed for delivering and enhancing patient care
  • Develops and maintains effective interdepartmental relationships and participates in activities which contribute to the effective function of the relevant areas
  • Facilitates staff huddles and chairs team meetings as well as attends other internal/external meetings as appropriate

Qualifications:


  • Health discipline professional designation
  • Undergraduate degree required (Master's degree preferred)
  • Minimum of five years recent managerial experience
  • Familiarity with medicine or palliative care services within an acute care environment considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and foster strong and positive partnerships
  • Demonstrated leadership, planning and project management skills
  • Strong problem solving and change management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Established reputation as a consultative, collaborative leader
  • Evidence of collaboration across multiple disciplines/divisions/programs/services
  • Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration
  • Ability to travel between Osler sites
  • A combination of experience and academic qualifications will be cons
