    Position Overview

  • The City's Planning & Development Department has an opportunity for a temporary fulltime Planning Assistant to join our Transportation Planning Division for approximately one year, working on an interdisciplinary team with North Shore and regional partners to implement the Councilapproved Mobility Strategy.
    Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Planning you will support the team in advancing multimodal transportation policies and programs; undertaking transportation data analysis; supporting engagement initiatives; and performing data collection and observations.
  • You will provide support to the public regarding sustainable transportation programs and parking management enquiries; assist in the maintenance of the team's project management materials while working with transportation data from a variety of external and internal sources; support the team with engagement initiatives with the public and stakeholders at City events; and support other team members by creating presentation materials.

Requirements:


  • You will have a Diploma in Urban Planning plus courses in transportation planning, urban design, geography, civil engineering or a related discipline with related experience in municipal planning, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the practices, principles, methods and procedures applicable to transportation planning is also required. Familiarity with the City's transportation network and policies would be an asset. You will be a dynamic, resultsoriented professional with strong organizational, relationshipbuilding, communication, and customer service skills, and have experience working with community members at engagement events. In addition, you will have experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

    Hours of Work
  • The City of North Vancouver works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each threeweek period.
    Additional Information
  • For temporary fulltime positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
