This competition will be used to fill one term position to March 31, 2024.
The Program Development Specialist, Midwifery provides leadership and expertise in the development and implementation of midwifery services, with a focus on Yukon communities outside of Whitehorse.
The position will collaborate with the Director of Integrated Health Services and the Clinical Manager of the Yukon Midwifery Program to develop strategic objectives, policies, practices, program materials and protocols that will guide the provision of midwifery services in rural Yukon communities, and further the mission and vision of the Yukon Midwifery Program.
Yukon's Midwifery Program
The overall goal of Yukon's Midwifery Program is to create access to safe, sustainable and person-centred midwifery care while providing care that addresses the social determinants of health.
The Yukon Midwifery Program is committed to interprofessional collaboration and has prioritized forming positive relationships with all of those across the health and social system and the work of this position would focus on the same relationship and community development.
Essential Qualifications

- Bachelor or Master's degree in any appropriate discipline, including policy, community development, midwifery, public health, health leadership or management
- Demonstrated community and program development experience
- Demonstrated Northern, remote or rural experience is an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidencebased midwifery theory, practices, techniques, and risk management acquired through work experience as a Registered Midwife is an asset

- Ability to research, review, and evaluate current principles and practices to ensure current, evidencebased approaches to clinical programming.
- Ability to teach, coach, and mentor others.
- Ability to increase personal effectiveness through selfreflection, lived experience, and ongoing professional development.

Conditions of Employment
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence
- Proof of required degree
- Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search)
- Minimum three satisfactory professional references
Job Requirements:
- Ability to travel within the territory to support community operations outside of Whitehorse, and engage with stakeholders; potential need to attend conferences and workshops both within and outside of Yukon.
Relocation:
- Some Relocation for this position may be supported in accordance with the Interview and Relocation Expense Directive
