Job Function:


  • Supervise crews of staff including, line maintainers, distribution, engineering technicians, metering technicians and support staff, including Union Trades Supervisor # Level
  • Supervise contracted forestry and meter reading programs. Monitor the performance of staff, administer policies, regulations, procedures and the CollectiveAgreement.
  • Assess, plan and schedule the work of the crew. Ensure that the crew has availability of appropriate tools and materials by expediting the delivery from suppliers. Ensure that the crew carries out the assigned tasks safely.
  • Respond to staff's technical concerns and provide assistance to Design Construction and Asset Management group.
  • Assess, plan, budget and schedule section work. Provide necessary data and reports on section activities.
  • Assist in maintaining a high level of public and employee relations.

  • Administer TWE program for business, coordinate the transportation of all staff and equipment to manage and find efficiencies to Remote sites Line/Customer Services & Scheduling Supervisor
  • Supervise staff composed of line maintainers, distribution technicians, metering technicians and support staff including Union Trades Supervisor - Level - Monitor work performance of staff in such areas as safety, quality of work, quantity of work, cost efficiency, timekeeping and conduct. Assist in the administration of Sick Leave Plan by reviewing employees' frequency of absenteeism due to sickness and ensuring that correct procedures are followed, e.g. doctor's reports obtained and assessments of workers' fitness reports made.
  • Ensure appropriate on the job corrective action; recommend to supervisor further disciplinary action. Develop, appraise and motivate staff.
  • Respond to employees' concerns and problems.
  • Assist Manager in handling personnel matters by interviewing, selecting and evaluating applicants for job vacancies. On occasion, supervise temporary staff consisting of supplementary, hiring hall, developmental summer students and technical college students. Manage contracted forestry and meter reading programs.
  • Ensure that appropriate time changes are input either directly or through the pay operations center. Ensure distribution is complete and errors corrected.
  • Administer policies, procedures and the collective agreement as required. Be familiar with appropriate policies and procedures and obtain guidance where necessary and provide interpretations in the course of supervising the crew. Ensure all appropriate legislated regulations are adhered to. Communicate department objectives effectively to the crew.
4.a) Review work by determining manpower requirements, conditions, tools required, skills required and materials available to carry out the work. Administer work in accordance with assessments provided by condition reporting, equipment monitoring, test and other diagnostic procedures. Ensure there is sufficient technical information to complete the work. Recommend to Manager the appropriate measures to complete the work in a timely and efficient manner. Pass on pertinent information to the Design, Construction and Asset Management group. Coordinate the work activity with other disciplines and contractors.

b) Carry out assessments and make recommendations to assist long term maintenance program development. Provide expertise regarding staff/contract resourcing, material requirements, safety considerations, methods and procedures.

Identify and establish co-ordination requirements with participating work disciplines; provide functional guidance and direction to other supervisors and work groups pertinent to all matters of work assessment, including safety, resourcing issues and scheduling.
