This is a student position of 37.5 hours per week, for a 2 year period, from Fall 2023 to Summer 2025 (funding available until end of August 2025).

$22.71 to $28.57 per hour

Assessment accommodation


Duties:

The student will work with a team of engineers and technicians on a mining mobile equipment project. The work will entail data analysis, modeling, and possibly field work to gather data.

Eligibility

You are eligible for this program if you meet these 3 requirements:

  • You are a full-time student in a post-secondary institution
  • You are enrolled in an academic program that requires research as part of your curriculum
  • You meet the minimum age required in the province/territory of work
This includes students with physical or emotional disabilities deemed to have full-time status by their academic institution.

Adult students registered in education and retraining programs at the secondary level may also be eligible for student employment programs.

Education:


Students working in Natural Resources Canada's laboratories and offices must have successfully completed a Bachelor of Engineering program at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution and must be recognized as a full-time Master's degree student in Engineering specializing in mining, mechanical, mechatronics or other discipline relevant to the position.

Knowledge:
The student must have knowledge in the field of mining mobile equipment, data analysis techniques, and modeling.

The student may be assessed during the interview on knowledge of energy supply and demand, as well as ability to work within a team.

To be considered for Research Affiliate Program (RAP) work opportunities, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Persons residing in Canada and Canadian citizens residing abroad.
  • Be recognized as having fulltime student status by the postsecondary academic institution at which you are currently
enrolled. (A proof will be required).

  • Be the minimum age to work in the province or territory where the job is located.


As part of this internship, the student will be responsible for their living expenses and accommodations, reside in Sudbury ON and work in collaboration with researchers at Natural Resources Canada.
