About this Opportunity:

Saplings Outdoor Program is seeking an individual passionate about working with school-aged children in outdoor environments around schools. The ideal candidate should thrive both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute a dynamic forest program in alignment with the management.
Ensure the safety of all children during forest activities, hiking, tree climbing, and near water bodies or challenging terrains.
Prepare learning spaces and materials daily.
Oversee the maintenance, safety, and use of program tools and equipment.
Design seasonal activities and projects using natural materials.
Implement personalized mentorship approaches with a focus on empathy and consideration.
Participate in regular staff and parent meetings.
Effectively communicate with parents in person and occasionally over the phone.
Demonstrate physical capability to teach in various weather conditions and terrains while promoting risk-taking and physical development.
Encourage exploration of local flora, fauna, and outdoor skills.

Work Schedule:

One day per week on Thursdays from 2:30 to 6:00.
Opportunity to substitute at other program locations during the rest of the week.

Requirements:

Valid First Aid Certificate.
Current Criminal Record Check.
Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in outdoor education with a focus on student-led learning.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with children and parents.
