Manager, Student Services:


Primary Purpose:
To develop, implement and evaluate strategies for delivery of undergraduate student services within the Edwards School of Business.

The manager will oversee the student life cycle, awards administration, supervise the daily activities of the undergraduate programs advisors and build and enhance relationships with key school stakeholders.


Accountabilities:
Participate in the strategic direction of policy regarding student services.

This will include, but not limited to, the following:


  • Student Recruitment & Retention_
  • Work in conjunction with the Director to develop, implement, and evaluate recruitment strategies for different student groups including Domestic, Indigenous, and International.
  • Work in conjunction with the Director to develop, implement, and evaluate retention strategies to enhance the undergraduate student experience for different student groups including Domestic, Indigenous, and International.
  • Participate in the student advising function and evaluate opportunities to adopt best practices, organize workflow and identify process improvements.
  • Responsible for student life cycle including processes for PickaMajor, Program Planning, Faculty Actions and Convocation oversight.
  • Administer Edwards Continuing Scholarship and Awards process and manage Edwards Awards Committee, responsible for distributing over $1.4 Million annually to continuing students. Liaise with Central Awards team on entrance awards and all payouts.
  • Oversee student performance reviews, manage the warning system, and provide analysis regarding faculty actions and student appeals based on school policies, university regulations and professional judgement.
  • Support student override class requests using the JIRA ticketing system.
  • Support Director, Associate Dean, and Department Heads to ensure all needs are met while creating Edwards academic timetable and course build annually.
  • People Leadership_
  • Direct activities and supervise the undergraduate and certificate programs advisors motivating them to work effectively; providing opportunities for career development and advancement; tracking vacation days, sick days and EDOs; and evaluating performance to provide timely and constructive feedback.
  • Build relationships and serve on committees with managers, advisors, and administrators across campus to ensure that Edwards is engaged and informed of changing student service policies and practices.

Qualifications

Education:
An undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution is required. A business degree and/or knowledge of the B.Comm. degree program is preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Proven ability to develop an excellent rapport with undergraduate students and faculty.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a selfdirected manner and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to initiate innovative change strategies that result in improvements to service quality, systems and processes is desired.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and willingness to manage and motivate staff is essential.
  • Superior research, analytical, problem solving, and organization skills are desired.
  • Ability to perform job functions with sensitivity and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of customerrelated management principles, systems, and practices.

The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $64, ,169.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
