Your Opportunity:

This dietitian position reports to Nutrition Services and primarily supports the Pediatric Weight Management Program. The program's aim is to help families achieve a lifestyle that promotes healthy growth and development in their children.

The primary role of this position is to provide nutrition counselling and lifestyle coaching in the areas of physical activity, sedentary time and sleep hygiene to pediatric clients and their families throughout Central Alberta.

The successful incumbent will work collaboratively with family members, primary care providers and community partners to provide support to clients.

Individual and group care will be provided via phone, zoom or in-person.


Description:


As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes.

You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans.

You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings.

Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).


Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of behavior change and motivational interviewing principles. Minimum of 1 year experience in an outpatient setting.


Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working with pediatric clients and their parents/guardians in promoting and supporting behavior change is also desirable.
