About the Position:
This position is primarily responsible for the purchasing, receiving and inventory control of sampling and laboratory supplies, with a strong emphasis on customer service for both internal and external clients.
- Track inventory of store items and order as needed;
- Reconcile waybills with purchases and forward to Accounts Payable;
- Follow up with onhold or late deliveries;
- Receive, unpack, verify goods and store all routinely ordered laboratory supplies in stores area and deliver nonroutine supplies to the appropriate location or person;
- Complete all the packing slips, TDG records and other related paper work in a prompt and accurate manor;
- Ensure that our internal stores are tidy and clearly marked;
- Ensure that an accurate uptodate inventory with current maximum/minimum levels for our store exists;
- Ensure that the appropriate levels of solvents, acids and compressed gases are ordered and delivered to the appropriate locations within the laboratory;
- Assist with archiving samples and laboratory data following all standard operating procedures (SOP);
- Assist with disposing of samples and laboratory data following all (SOP);
- Assist with cleaning and organizing the warehouse to maintain a tidy appearance at all times;
- Participate in the transfer of coolers from sample reception to the warehouse for cleaning;
- Partake in the cleaning and storage of coolers;
- Participate in moving supplies to the appropriate section;
- Maintain a clean work area;
- Provide general assistance as required;
- Follow all standard operating procedures (SOP) or specific procedures (SP) for warehouse activities;
- Follow all required quality assurance protocols;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) at a Intermediate level;
- Good command of English communication skills (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
- Very organized with proven ability to work to deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent (required);
- Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic laboratory safety (asset);
- Previous experience working in a laboratory, warehouse or fastpaced, environment (asset);
- Current and valid British Columbia driver's license with clean driving history;
- An acceptable driver's abstract is required;
- Full training will be provided.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs./ 23kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
- Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
- Ability to stand for up to a full shift;
- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
- You may be exposed to unpleasant fumes;
- Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
