Position Purpose and
Summary
Writing Coaches help students with every stage of their writing process via individual and group sessions. Writing Coaches collaborate with faculty and support staff to provide support to students from orientation to graduation.


Key Areas of Accountability

  • Work with graduate students in writing tutoring sessions on various writing skills at various stages of the writing process, including prewriting drafting, revision, researching, and formatting
  • Facilitate group sessions and workshops on writing topics
  • Coordinate with course instructors about course writing content, expectations, and formative feedback
  • Plan and facilitate break out writing group sessions and workshops based on specific learning outcomes
  • Develop writing resources and training materials
  • Session recordkeeping and administrative tasks
  • Communicate and attend meetings with the team of Writing Coaches

  • Experienced in learning and writing at the graduate level
  • Researchinformed understanding of writing and writing pedagogy
  • Collaborative
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to scaffold learning and adjust scaffolding as needed
  • Desire to come alongside students in their learning journey

Standards & Requirements

Education:
Master's degree in TESOL, Linguistics, English, Education or related field.


Experience:
At least one year teaching or coaching writing at the Higher Ed level
