Community Services Department | Seasonal Full-Time Position (2 month July - August) |Monday - Friday | 8:00am - 4:30pm


The Opportunity
Lacombe County has a great summer opportunity for an individual who wants to work outside for the summer.

The River Weed Inspector is responsible for canoeing the Blindman, Medicine, and Red Deer rivers, hand-picking prohibited noxious and noxious weeds from sensitive areas along the riverbanks.


Key Responsibilities

  • Pulling weeds, collecting them in a bag in the canoe and dropping them off at the designated locations.
  • Developing the ability to accurately identify prohibited noxious and noxious weeds.
  • Incorporating strong boat safety and paddling skills (be able to identify and address obstacles on the river).
  • Performing responsibilities in a safe and effective mannermust be able to follow safe work practices and abide by all safety policies, rules and regulations.

Key Qualifications

  • An enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing personality.
  • A valid Alberta class 5 driver's license (acceptable drivers abstract required upon hire).
  • Selfmotivated and able to work well with minimum supervision.
  • Able to perform physical work involving bending, lifting, and moving of light or heavy objects (up to 50lbs).
  • Must have proven ability to interact with others in a calm, courteous and respectful manner.
The wage for this position starts at $23.06/hr (includes stat and vacation pay)
