Are you a policy professional with demonstrated experience addressing infection prevention and control?


Join the Health Protection, Policy and Partnerships Branch where you will support the development, implementation and evaluation of Ontario's public health protection and prevention policies.

The branch also provides oversight of public health programs, identified in the Ontario Public Health Standards and under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, as well as supports public awareness and educational campaigns for public health.

What can I expect to do in this role?: Using your experience working in infection prevention and control, you will:

  • conduct and advise on and/or participate in project initiatives for an assigned portfolio.
- conduct and advise on the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of population and public health policies, programs and services.
- advise on related program and operational policies, standards and guidelines.
- support the overall government mandate for an integrated health system.


How do I qualify?:


Policy Expertise:


  • You have knowledge of policy and legislative processes, including those related to infection prevention and control.
  • You have knowledge of program development and implementation
  • You have experience in using policy and research tools, methods and techniques

Research, Evaluation and Analytical Skills:


  • You can contribute to the development of innovative programs, implementation plans and standards and guidelines, including those related to infection prevention and control.
  • You demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity
  • You can assess the effectiveness of infection control and prevention policies and programs against Ministry initiatives and goals

Relationship Management and Facilitation Skills:


  • You have expertise in creating and managing partner relationships
  • You can consult and provide appropriate advice on policies, standards and programs related to infection prevention and control to partners

Communication Skills:


  • You can respond to issues, provide recommendations and prepare reports using standard computer software
  • You can create, lead and present research findings related to infection prevention and control to senior management
  • You can plan and prepare written documents for senior level leaders, such as Cabinet submissions.

Planning and Organizational Skills:


  • You can plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
