Friends of Ruby is dedicated to the journey and well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, aged 16-29 through mental health services, social services, and housing.
Friends of Ruby offers mental health services, case management, programming and practical supports at our Youth Drop-In Centre and Transitional Home.
The Centre provides access to low-barrier psychotherapy and group therapy, case management and a welcoming space with hot meals, community, and wrap around services.
The Home provides transitional and emergency housing, as well as skill development and mental health services to support youth transitioning to independent living.
Position Summary
The Research & Evaluation Coordinator reports to the Manager, Knowledge and Design in the Strategic Initiatives department and is responsible for collecting, managing, analyzing, and presenting organizational and programmatic data.
The Research & Evaluation Coordinator is responsible for data management and reporting with an emphasis on creating and maintaining systems to ensure data is accurate, complete and timely.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with frontline staff and other internal stakeholders to support data collection and reporting needs in the form of practical solutions such as processes, forms, and reports
- Manage youth researchers to engage in appreciative inquiry via institutional interview with youth and external agencies demonstrating the outcomes of agency programming
- Facilitate participatory group discussions to collect qualitative feedback
- Participate in knowledge mobilization activities to publish and champion Friends of Ruby thought leadership and program outcome including: writing reports, planning and preparing for public symposia/workshops, coordinating events, and creating data visualizations and documents
- Utilize traumainformed data collection methods aligned with the organization's antiracism and antidiscrimination objectives and community development principles
- Perform administrative tasks to support the work, including scheduling, coordinating meetings and events, data entry, communication, etc.
- Document process and workflows, improve data management, and support program staff in implementing these improvements
- Manage, update, merge, and migrate data from a variety of sources, automating processes where possible, to report on key metrics
- Perform backend administration with clientrelated database, working with external vendors (where necessary) to develop solutions to organizational needs
- Work with the Manager, Knowledge and Design to develop systems for impact measurement and evaluation of programs and services offered by Friends of Ruby
- Synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into reports tailored to each audience including funding agencies, management and leadership
- Other duties as assigned
About You
- Master's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Research & Policy Studies, Psychology, Social-Work, Public Health), or Bachelors Degree with 5+ years of experience
- Experience with data management, with the ability to monitor data quality, analyze data, interpret results and synthesize reporting, and to inform program development
- Expertise in designing and implementing primary qualitative and quantitative research methods, e.g. surveys, interviews, focus groups and facilitated group processes
- Experience coordinating/delivering research using diverse methods
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g. logic statements, data validation, filtering, etc.)
- Experience cleaning data sets, conducting quality assurance and establishing systems to improve data integrity
- Experience summarizing and presenting data in different formats to a variety of stakeholders
- Willing and able to quickly learn new software and data management systems
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, problemsolving and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to an evolving work environment and tolerate ambiguity
- Knowledge of statistical analysis
- Experience in the nonprofit or social services sector, specifically housing and/or mental health
- Experience with impact measurement and program evaluation
- Lived experience as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
- Project management and change management methodologies
Additional Requirements
- Satisfactory clearance of a Background Check
- Must be qualified to legally work in Canada
- Willing to work from our two locations in downtown Toronto
