Description

The Controller is responsible for maintaining an adequate system of accounting records to ensure the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, maintaining records for internal/external auditors and dealing with Government bodies at all levels.

The Controller is a liaison between Finance and operating management that rely on this position for assistance, such as buyouts, lease terminations, and accurate posting of leasing deals.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create, analyze and finalize the month end financial statement and expense reports for the leasing division.
  • Assist in daytoday operations such as lease posting, lease transactions, field payout requests, monitor A/R, terminate leases, monitor lease maturity.
  • Assist with securitization and other funding channels.
  • Prepare and print cheques.
  • Run billing.
  • Track vender invoices and subscriptions.
  • Maintain database accuracy and produce reports for operating and senior management.
  • Post and maintain monthly standard entries pertaining to securitized assets and non
- securitized assets.

  • Reconcile bank statements, leasing securitized loans and leasing lines of credit.
  • Assist in audits pertaining to securitized assets by funding source.
  • Training office staff as needed.
  • Prepare taxes (HST/Luxury Tax/Out of Province Tax) and process accordingly.
  • Assisting in annual year end audits, prepare auditor year end audit binder.

Requirements

:

5 Years of prior experience in a controller role at an automotive dealership is required

:


  • CMA/CGA//CPA designation is required.
-
Previous Leasing accounting experience.

  • Ability to deal with auditors, government agencies and banks.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to deal with confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of integrity.
  • Excellent analytical, forecast and budgeting skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
  • Must be well versed in leasing accounting.
  • Experienced in closing a month, creating financial statements, controlling costs, updating budget reporting workbooks.
  • Be able to explain technical financial data in an understandable manner.

Complete understanding and knowledge of CDK (formally ADP) systems. LPM knowledge would be an asset.

Excellent knowledge with working with Excel, Pivot reports and macros.
