The Carpenter Assistant will assist the carpenter in performing general carpentry work during construction, renovation, or repair in a residential and commercial building.

This position will provide support to the Construction and Facility Services Team.

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties include but not limited to:

Taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of materials needed.
Cutting, shaping, and smoothing limber and other materials according to measurements.
Demolition and renovation of tenant suites tearing out floors and replacing them, replacing cabinets and counters, drywall, mudding and taping, sanding and painting.
Duties assigned during renovation, construction, and company safety program.
Comply with Manitoba Safety and Health Standards.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

Grade 12 education and minimum 3 years experience in a carpenter assistant or construction role
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measuring tools.

Knowledge & Skills:

Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
Ability to provide quality workmanship and comply with Thorwin quality standards.
Good understanding of safe work practices
Able to move and lift 50 lbs.
Attention to details and good problemsolving skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work on tight deadline.

Working Conditions:
