JOB SUMMARY


Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the incumbent will be working with the management, staff & unions to foster a positive & collaborative employee/labour relations climate for all five Bona Hospitality properties.

This role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, focusing on managing and enhancing the relationship between the organization & workforce.

Together with the Human Resources Director, they will create & implement strategies to enhance and improve relationships across the organization.


The incumbent is responsible for partnering with leaders to provide trusted advisory services in the areas of employee/labour relations, attendance management, employee engagement, employee performance management.

In consultation with the Human Resources Director, they shall identify, review, update & implement human resources policies and procedures to ensure strategic alignment with the company's mission, values, and goals.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Oversee the implementation of employee engagement initiatives to enhance job satisfaction.
  • Partner and collaborate with the Human Resources Director to develop and coordinate an effective performance management process that aligns with the company's culture.
  • Establish a performancedriven culture, that will encourage continuous improvement and accountability across the organization.
  • Support hiring managers, department heads and leadership teams on tactical approaches to union and performance matters.
  • Act as a resource for information pertaining to employee/labour relations issues in accordance with organizational policies/procedures/collective agreements.
  • Establish positive working relationships with all clients and stakeholders including union representatives, managers, employees, and others to foster a positive and cooperative/collaborative working climate.
  • Maintain indepth knowledge and understanding of unionized workforces, collective agreements, work issues and leading decisions.
  • Conduct investigations into complaints and other matters such as harassment, discrimination, conflicts, etc., write detailed reports and recommend appropriate disciplinary and/or administrative actions, when necessary.
  • Work with frontline managers to support attendance management.
  • Partner and collaborate with Human Resources Director to develop and deliver training programs to management on employment and labour relations matters.
  • Utilize an "open door" policy to acknowledge staff and manager issues/concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensure employee issues are referred to the Department Managers for resolution or escalated to the Director of Human Resources, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bilingual in French is considered a strong asset.
  • Postsecondary education in labour relations or Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; hospitality sector experience preferred.
  • 7 years of progressive experience & responsibility in labour relations/Human Resources, experience in a
    multiunionized environment inclusive of experience in grievance handling, labour relations, investigations, discipline & discharge & performance management
  • Demonstrated collective bargaining, conflict management & negotiation skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, prioritization & timemanagement skills
  • Significant coaching & mentoring skills
  • Excellent verbal & written communication, reportwriting and presentation skills, critical thinking, conflict resolution & negotiation skills
  • Extensive indepth knowledge/experience of legal principles, legislations, policy & labour relations management
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills & the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Professional Designation (e.g. CHRP, CHRL), preferred.
