The Work Management and GIS Coordinator reports to the Manager, Asset Planning and will deploy and provide technical support for Asset Management software tools, organization wide.

The scope of work includes providing the day to day maintenance, continuous improvement and user support for the delivery of Computerized Work Management System (CMMS) and Geographical Information System (GIS) software tools, providing technical support for predictive analysis and financial forecasting of capital and operating asset maintenance needs.

Additionally, the incumbent will work closely with the IT and Information Management divisions for technical guidance.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide ongoing technical support to maintain, update and improve the GIS and CMMS software tools to ensure access to accurate and complete spatial data and to ensure analysis and reporting functions are working effectively
  • Provide "help desk" customer service support for GIS and CMMS users internally and externally with operating partners, and assist in providing training initiatives toward the use of software tools
  • Assist in the delivery of various projects including condition assessments, lifecycle analysis and forecasts, operations and maintenance practices development, capital and operating budget forecasting and the roll out of asset management software solutions
  • Draft documentation of current GIS, CMMS and asset management processes, including gathering information and input from stakeholders, and recommending improvements to processes
  • Provide technical expertise support in the maintenance of FBCL's asset inventory, geodatabases and metadata including data entry, manipulation, verification, gap analysis, georeferencing plans and digitizing assets
  • Design and deploy relational geodatabase structures and data models for consistent optimized delivery of asset management tools including linkages to other business data (GC Docs, Great Plains), and operational records and specifications
  • Create and maintain forms, templates and dashboards within software environments to meet the needs of users
  • Support and network with operational units, other divisions and departments, and operating partners, as necessary, to support strategies, technical solutions and decisionsupport tools developed by the AMP
  • Prepare a variety of written documents, including technical reports, work plans, newsletters and presentations including mapping, graphs, and charts to communicate plans, objectives, findings and results
  • Build positive working relationships with coworkers, other FBCL staff, and operating partners using principles of good customer service and active listening
  • Provide support to the departmental capital budgeting process.
Essential Qualifications
Education

  • Diploma from a recognized college or university in GIS with a Civil Engineering and/or Environmental Design and/or Urban Planning focus
  • Business Administration, Financial Accounting, and/or cost estimating training would be an asset
  • An industry certification or designation in a related field would be an asset (examples
  • ESRI GIS Certifications, or CET from OACETT)
Experience

  • Demonstrated progressive experience in GIS (including coop placement experience) working with physical asset inventories such as municipal services, utilities, buildings and structures preferably in government with ESRI ArcGIS tools
  • Experience related to CMMS and operational work planning objectives
  • Experience related to civil design drawings and programs (i.e. BIM, AutoCADD) including land surveys, property titles, leases and easements
  • Experience related to records management systems, advanced spreadsheets, cost estimating would be an asset
Knowledge and Skills

  • High attention to detail for data validation, to ensure reliable accurate and complete data, graphics and operational attributes for effective operation of software tools solutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database design and management including programing scripting (Python preferred) to develop and maintain spatial infrastructure inventory geodatabases
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and relevant working experience with computerized maintenance/work order management systems, and Geographic Information Systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to communicate, coordinate and collaborate with a range of stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams on a variety of issues
  • Excellent customer service skills to provide training and assistance on software tool solutions
  • Ability to analyze data, identify gaps and trends to develop strategic mitigation options, and proposed recommendations
  • Advanced computer technical skills enabling data entry, manipulation, and validation;
  • Excellent organizational, written, verbal, presentation, decisionmaking and problemsolving skills; and
  • Works well under pressure and meeting deadlines with the ability to keep things moving despite potential ch
