This is a bargaining unit position

Scope
Responsible for facilitating workshops and delivering one on one employment for eligible newcomers.

This includes the delivery of Job Search Workshop, individual employment-related counselling and assessment; solution focused counselling, information and referral provision, facilitating information sessions on employment related topics and matching with employment related opportunities and professional mentor.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver all components of the employment services to newcomers including employment assessment, goals setting and action plan preparation, job search workshops' facilitation and follow up
  • Deliver career exploration activities in a group and individually
  • Provide comprehensive information on the labour market, regulated professions and trades and professional licensing
  • Ensure clients have mastered job search and interview skills and have developed targeted resumes and cover letters
  • Assist in goalsetting and action plan preparation, development and implementation
  • Provide comprehensive information on the orientation to Canadian workplace culture
  • Markets and promotes internationally trained professionals to employers, business community and industry groups
  • Acts as a referral coach for the TRIEC Mentoring Partnership and cover all duties associated with the agreement
  • Recruit employers for placements and mentors for mentorship activities
  • Achieve the target number of successful placements
  • Match clients with mentors and coop activities in accordance with their career expectations and goals
  • Maintain strong working relations with agency programs and partner agencies
  • Maintain the continuous and accurate records of clients assisted and services provided, in electronic database and paper files
  • Effectively track clients' progress and provide reports for supervisor and colleagues
  • Must meet targets set by program manager
  • Organize employment and settlement related materials and tools for easy access and update it regularly
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Employment or Career Counselling, Education or Business, and at least three years' experience working in the employment nonfor profit sector
  • Excellent and superior presentation & group facilitation skills with the ability to engage an motivate others
  • At least three years of experience working with groups:
developing and delivering presentations, seminars, workshops

  • Demonstrated career and employment counselling skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian labour market and labour market trends
  • Proficiency in professional recognition in Canada, N.O.C., trade certification and professional licensing information
  • Competences in career and employment individual assessment, and job search techniques and process
  • Familiarity with issues newcomers to Canada face in urban setting and systemic barriers facing integration in economic, social, education, and cultural aspects of Canadian life
  • Excellent interpersonal, cross cultural, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated creativity and problemsolving, ability to implement curriculum
  • Ability to work flexible schedules on an as needed basis
  • Flexibility to work from various locations in the GTA as needed to achieve targetsUse of own vehicle is an asset to the job
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset

Salary:

$24.11 per hour
