Position Summary
Team Attendant - Surgical Unit-Ortho

Your goal in this position is to contribute to the organization and optimal function of the Orthopaedic Inpatient Surgery Department working with physicians, registered nurses and unit secretaries to provide support to patients and patient care staff.

You will be also responsible for contributing to patient flow and enhancing patient family centered care in the Orthopaedic Inpatient Surgery department.

You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work within a team and fast paced environment.

You are able to establish and maintain patience, compassion and a courteous manner in relationships with patients, families, and co-workers.

This position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation.

This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

Practice safe transfer of patients and supplies

Observe and adhere to all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations

Participate as a member of the interprofessional care team and maintain collaborative working relationship.

Provide patient-centered & direct patient care following the guidance of a regulated health care provider

Demonstrate ability to write routine reports and correspondence in the English language

Utilize effective communication skills with team members

Provide feedback to nursing staff of patient requests/needs

Communicate changing work priorities to co-workers

Establish positive rapport with patients/families and team members

Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills


Qualifications:

High School diploma or General education degree ( GED) required.

Completed Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from a College of Applied Arts and Technology

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

Medical experience in Medical Imaging an asset

Bilingualism in French/English an asset

This is a Full Time Temporary position of 6 months with 8 hour shifts, Days and Weekends shifts in the Orthopaedic Inpatient Surgery Unit.
