***The Patient Access Administrator works with the Patient Flow Coordinator to optimize patient flow and ensure efficient utilization of acute care beds at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton bymonitoring Patient Flowtriggers, maintaining the Community Wait list,communicating bed status across organization at designated intervals and invoking the appropriate corporate response as detailed in the Patient Flow Policy.

Patient Access Administrator provides ADT functions and maintains the corporate bed board for the organization providing a central resource for internal and external customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of a recognized Health Office Administration course
Minimum two years working in a hospital environment and familiarity with Registration, Admission, Discharge and Transfer (RADT) procedures
Intermediate skill level in MS Word and Excel required
Spelling, medical spelling and medical terminology must be at an intermediate skill level
Typing speed at an intermediate skill level is required
Experience working in Bed Booking is preferred
Competency working with a networked ADT system
Competency working with a computerized patient scheduling system
Proficiency in use of networked patient scheduling systems, PHS preferred
Knowledge of inpatient units and related hospital services
Excellent verbal and verbal communication skills
Customer service oriented
Adept in working in a high volume, high stress area dealing with competing priorities
Proven ability to work as a team member
Must present a professional demeanor at all time
Excellent work performance and attendance record is essential
