We're looking for a Claims Representative, Major Loss, to join our growing team
What you'll do here:
- Investigate relatively complex commercial and personal lines property claims in a timely and respectful manner through communication with customers, contractors, consultants, and any other related parties.
- Direct independent adjusters and other experts as required.
- Provide a superior quality of customer service to external and internal customers, and answer queries relating to the claims process.
- Analyze the client's insurance coverage and clearly explain what coverage they have in relation to the claim.
- Gather factual versions of the circumstances of the claim from insureds, third parties and other stakeholders to determine the circumstances, causes and eligibility of claims.
- Assess potential liability of insured and third parties based on relevant investigative evidence.
- Within established authority limits, negotiate with customers, claimants, lawyers, and insurers to settle claims.
- Anticipate recoveries and direct the investigation accordingly.
- Actively collaborate with the various related departments in the claims and underwriting departments, as well as outside specialists.
- Communicate effectively with the client to keep them informed of progress.
- Properly annotate and document files in accordance with company standards and guidelines.
- Ensure sound management of external fees and costs.
- Actively participate in disaster and overflow calls when necessary.
- Keep abreast of insurance products and investigative techniques and services.
What you'll bring to the table:
- University degree or college diploma or equivalent business experience
- 4 to 7 years experience handling personal and commercial property claims with at least partly acquired experience directly in the field
- Demonstrates a passion for customer service with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Selfmotivated and goal oriented, capable of working in a fast paced and changing environment
- Strong aptitude for technology with excellent computer skills
- Demonstrates strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
