In this role you will:Follow daily procedures to ensure all our customers receive their correct product in a timely and efficient manner. Achieve customer satisfaction by continually improving customer relations through accurate on-time delivery and reporting. Supervise shippers & material handlers to ensure proper procedures are followed. Focus Materials team on implementing plans to achieve goals. Provide back up support to the Materials Manager.


Requirements:


  • Analyze customer releases and inventory requirements.
  • Assure that customers receive the desired quantity of product on a justintime basis.
  • Maintains a justintime supply of raw materials.
  • Ensures FIFO of materials and perform cycle counts, including component parts.
  • Develop a positive and cooperative relationship with internal and external customers and daily answering & inputting customer information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Analyze internal inventory component variances, problem solve and implement corrective actions. Participate in inventory control and lead quarterly inventory process.
  • Supervise shippers & material handlers including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provides management guidance and direction to all employees in the materials function to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective department.
  • Design and implement policies, procedures and methods as required to facilitate objectives.
  • Facilitates the procurement of transportation services as required.
  • Participate in company and department Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) and Woodbridge Production System (WPS) programs.
  • Manage mobile equipment PM and safety conformance.
  • Establish and maintain 5S standards for Materials.
  • Data input, clerical and administrative activities as required by the position.
  • Cross train in all functions of the materials organization and provide back up support to the Materials Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by Materials Manager.

Qualifications:


  • Experience in materials and logistics in the automotive industry, preferably in Tier 1, 2 or 3 manufacturing, with progressive increases in responsibility and accountability during your career.
  • Detailed understanding and experience using modern manufacturing principles, current inventory and materials control, methodology to include MRP/JIT processes
  • Must demonstrate the ability to successfully plan, coordinate and direct the activities of the materials control function, which includes the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the systems and procedures associated with the functional area.
  • Bachelor's degree, emphasis on logistics, materials or supply chain preferred.
  • Understanding AS400, CMS preferred.
  • Understanding of customer requirements within the automotive and packaging marketplace.
  • Welldeveloped computer skills, including ERP experience with the ability to use the computer system as an effective tool for tracking orders and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal skills and above average written communication skills.
  • Experience as a leader in a unionized environment would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, 5S and kaizen.

Additional Information:


  • Please note that this position is located at the Woodbridge Kitchener, Formed Plastics facility located at 68 Shirley Ave., Kitchener, ON
  • Standard shift hours for Day Shift are 6:30am 3:15pm Monday
  • Friday.
  • Schedule hours may be altered as required. Ability to work overtime or irregular hours to include Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as requested, is required.
