Campus Life & Engagement


Campus Life & Engagement (CL&E) supports all McGill students by connecting them to resources and creating meaningful opportunities for involvement.

They guide students in navigating the McGill student experience through orientation and transition programming and by providing student life opportunities across campus for students to develop their interests and skills.


Additional Information:
Evening/weekend hours may be required during peak periods.


Position Summary:
Primary Responsibilities

  • Raise awareness, promote and support various student involvement opportunities, including peertopeer programming. Creates toolkits and promotes the use of equity, diversity and inclusion best practices in services offerings.
  • Lead or participate in student involvement programming to build a sense of community and belonging. Advise students on opportunities available to them.
  • Establish and/or maintain effective working relationships with a pool of community and oncampus partners to support Student Life and Leaving Vision and the CL&E mandate and annual objectives. Networks with community of practices and encourage knowledge exchange.
  • Organize and support annual campaigns to promote student involvement. Liaise with community and campus partners in their portfolio. Present to various internal / external clientele.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on the different platforms in use for both staff and students.
  • Analyze students' participation and ensure that students needs are addressed and prioritized in the next iteration of the platforms.
  • Liaise with staff and students to advance and promote student involvement initiatives. Address and/or respond to both general and specific questions concerning myInvolvement and help students understand how to track their involvement on campus with the replacement of the cocurricular record to an experience record.
  • Liaise with student organizations, inform them of tools and platforms in place to promote student involvement opportunities.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Demonstrated professional experience in a university or college setting with a proven record of achievement and success.

Demonstrated experience in community mobilization or development programs combined with experience as a student affair professional in a post-secondary institution is preferred.

Proven planning, organizational and decision-making skills, coupled with the ability to establish and respond to priorities.

Team player, with a proven ability to take responsibility and deliver results with minimum direction and oversight, in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple activities and projects at the same time.

Must be composed under pressure with an ability to cope effectively with change. Proven proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques required. Content and project management expertise is strongly preferred. Student-focused and service
