Who we need

We are currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team as we undergo a new general ledger conversion. You will be a key player supporting operational financial processes for the organization.

You will focus on preparing complex journal entries specific to the insurance industry and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations, tax remittances, and more.

What you will do

Record business transactions.

You will prepare complex journal entries such as premium, reinsurance, loss, expense, premium tax, intercompany accruals and lease accounting under IFRS 16.

Coordinate tax payments.

You will work with the US Tax team for provincial returns and installment remittances related to insurance premiums and sales taxes.

Reconcile GL entries.

You will actively monitor and analyze the general ledger account reconciliations to ensure the existence, completeness and accuracy of transactions.

You will support the monthly, quarterly and year-end legal entity financial close processes as needed.
Collaborate. You will work with Account Payable staff to process payments, invoice approvals, expense reporting, and address client inquiries etc.
Immediate and continuous improvements. You will identify areas for improvement and recommend streamlined financial reporting processes or internal control procedures to increase efficiency.

You will provide inputs to minimize the operational risk and collaborate with key stakeholders to address system and reporting concerns.

What you bring

The education and experience. You have a university degree in a relevant field. A CPA designation is preferred. You have three years as a financial analyst, ideally in the insurance industry. You have strong organizational and analytical skills combined with a good business sense.
The technical skills. You are highly proficient with SAP and MS Office, specifically Excel (You can execute pivot tables, lookups, sums, etc.). You have hands-on skills with General ledger and reporting systems.
The drive. You are detail-oriented with a high awareness of the need to be meticulously accurate. You are motivated to look for improvements to processes and introduce ideas to implement changes based on best practices.
The interpersonal skills. You have excellent written, oral, and presentation skills. You can build relationships with internal stakeholders to work collaboratively. You thrive in an independent role as well as a contributing team member. You have the confidence to identify issues and proactively work towards resolutions.
