Overview of role:

WestJet is seeking an Advisor reporting into our Digital Technology team. This individual can demonstrate a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.


The Advisor, Digital Academy, reporting to the Manager, Digital Academy is a full-time role responsible for expanding the digital and data learning and literacy across the organization.

This role creates the learning modules required at all levels of the organization from individual contributors to executives, moving WestJet Group from a "Digital Starter" to a "Digital Performer".

The Advisor, Digital Academy is responsible for creating and supporting the vision and strategy for WestJet Group's Digital Academy, guiding the success of the program and curriculum, and creating the best practices and center of excellence for the Agile Practice.

It is a critical role that sets the plan for developing a corporate-wide adoption of the digital mindset working closely with Digital, IT and the Learning and Development departments.


Key deliverables include:


  • Creates and supports the vision and strategy, for all levels of the organization and all cohort types, for the learning and development requirements that enables the movement of WestJet Group from "Digital Starter" to "Digital Performer".
  • Advises and creates the learning and development curriculum and modules for all digital and data learnings. Uses various mediums to deliver training; virtual, inclass, produced inhouse and procured from partners.
  • Works with external partnerships to take advantage of the ecosystem of learning and development solutions for Digital and Agile practices. Accesses new trends and technologies for learning delivery.
  • Works with all business units on their digital and data learning needs. Supports the intake processes for all Digital and Data learning and development items.
  • Defines and maintains key performance indicators and success metrics specific to learning items across the cohorts and groups. This includes continuous improvement and finding ways to transparently publish metrics where applicable and appropriate. Monitors the efficacy and success of all learning items.
  • Works with external partners and with business stakeholders to ensure successful engagement and positive employee experience with the learning requirements and modules.
  • Defines requirements for each learning item and the desired learning experience. Works closely with Learning and Development team to align to best practices and consistent systems for launching learning items.
  • Ensures all learning items conform to all corporate compliance and regulatory governance standards.
  • Supports the Agile Practice and center of excellence to deliver best practices, templates and consistent frameworks for all Scrum Masters.
  • Works with the existing IT Learning Day Committee to provide support in continuing the Learning Day activities and expanding it to include the Digital team and others across the organization where applicable.

Experience and qualifications:


  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills with experience in collaborating with all levels of an organization.
  • Requires a minimum of 24 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (Technical/Business/Scientific).
  • Has a background in Learning and Development, Education, Training or Teaching.
  • Has proven experience with product management frameworks and Scrum or equivalent Agile methodology.
  • Is curious, thoughtful, and organized.
  • Selfmotivated and ability to work independently and cross functionally.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has the ability to work effectively, demonstrate flexibility and set priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Highly motivated and collaborative individual.
