Within Canadian Personal Banking, the Finance team for Canadian Credit Cards, Payments, and Loyalty supports development and achievement of the Cards business's financial and strategic objectives through robust reporting and forecasting capabilities, strategic decision support and insights.

The team supports the effectiveness of the business heads as well as their CFOs through business and financial insights and advice.

The Cards Finance teams works closely with the Cards business as well as a broad set of partners in Finance as well as other areas of the enterprise.


  • Key responsibilities of the team include:
  • Planning, forecasting and management reporting in support of credit card portfolios and analytics in support of business strategies and tactics, while integrating competitive and industry trends
  • Ad hoc support of business initiatives such as business cases and productivity initiatives
  • Building strong internal and external relationships to advance the team mandate and the Finance vision

Job Description:


Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Cards and Personal Lending Finance, the Group Finance Manager leads a team of professionals to provide financial performance reporting and forecasting as well as insightful analysis and recommendations on business.

The role requires superior analytical, communications, and project management skills.

  • Key accountabilities include the following:
  • Lead the annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes for the Cards business by creating robust process and project management structure, delivering insightful planning and forecasting analysis and insights, and identifying business opportunities and risks
  • Lead the preparation of business performance reporting packages including Flash and Monthly Operating Results (MOR) for the Cards business head and their Operating Committee, including concise and effective messaging and recommendations
  • Provide Finance Advisory thought leadership and support on whatif scenario analyses, outlooks, and ad hoc initiatives to the business and finance executive leadership team to meet the Cards business's financial and strategic objectives
  • Develop and manage strong relationships across broad stakeholder groups including business unit leadership and broader functional groups at TD
  • Drive continuous improvement, efficiencies, and innovation to current processes to create capacity savings for the team, improved insights, and robust control environment
  • Lead and oversee a team responsible for delivering the Cards mandate and provide effective people leadership through coaching and development.

Requirements:


  • Excellent analytical skills in assessing financial and business issues and exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Confident presentation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with partners and businesses at all levels
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • A key element to this role is the ability to effectively work in teams across the bank with multiple stakeholders, influence and align others
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and forecasting processes including the relevant controls environment
  • Experience evaluating business issues, identifying potential solutions and implementing action to resolve
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry and its products
  • Previous Hyperion experience considered a strong asset
  • Education, Accreditation and Experience:
  • CPA, MBA, or CFA with 5+ years of Finance / Credit Cards / Banking experience considered a strong asset
