We are looking for a motivated team player who is interested in working as a Translator to support CNA Canada's business units.

In this role you will work closely with the Canadian Marketing and Communications, Human Resources and Legal teams along with the Montreal Branch, to provide timely translation services in support of various internal clients, for internal and external communication correspondence and policy wordings and endorsement needs.

The successful incumbent will be familiar with Québec's distinctive linguistic characteristics and French language requirements (including Bill 96) and be able to translate an average of 1,000 to 1,500 words per day, mainly from English to French.

The Translation Consultant will be proactive and comfortable working both independently as well as part of a team.

Le titulaire du poste connaîtra les caractéristiques linguistiques distinctives du Québec et les exigences linguistiques propres au français (y compris le projet de loi 96) et pourra traduire en moyenne de 1 000 à 1 500 mots par jour, principalement de l'anglais au français.

Le consultant en traduction sera proactif et à l'aise pour travailler à la fois de manière indépendante et au sein d'une équipe.


JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:_
  • Translate a variety of documents including marketing materials, internal and external communications, announcements and press releases, insurance policies and endorsements and HR documents;
  • Research a wide range of terminology and languagespecific phrases to facilitate the accurate translation of material. Participate in team discussions regarding accurate terminology.
  • Occasionally proof, review and edit work performed by external translators for accuracy and consistency. Make changes as needed.
  • Liaise with internal clients to clarify details and ensure the smooth delivery of the final product to their specifications.
  • Review, translate and revise content posted on external and internal platforms, ensuring clarity, accuracy and consistency of translations;
  • Provide support on special projects and presentations, performing translations, often on short notice and/or weekends may be required;
  • Contribute to the building and maintenance of the company's translation AI tool
  • Acting as a resource internally for translation requirements based on Quebec's translation requirements, including Bill 9
  • Work with various internal departments to catalogue and prioritize translation of existing materials
  • Coordinating external legal translations/reviews, and internal reviews where needed.
  • Miscellaneous administrative tasks related to the above

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • University degree in translation or related field; professional certification in translation and being a member of OTTIAQ constitutes preferred;
  • Minimum of 12 years of previous experience in translation; experience within insurance or financial services considered an asset;
  • Bilingualism in French and English required for effective communication and translation ability
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to translate technical and specialized content relating to business and customer groups involved;
  • Strong organization and time management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines;
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to change, as needed
