We are currently searching for a professional Shunt Truck Driver/loader.

Responsibilities:


  • Using the shunt truck, shunt trailers into the loading bays safety and securely
  • Circle check trailers, look for damage, inoperable lighting, brakes etc., and look for possible tampering of trailers which could involve illegal trafficking of drugs or weapons.
  • Prepare trailers for loading, place chains at proper locations, make sure trailer is clean and all dunnage is stacked neatly and safety at the front of the trailer.
  • Rack and tarp pull tarp back and make sure all panels are properly placed.
  • Slider kits slide kit forward being careful not to cause damage.
  • Constantly check the conditions of chains, bunks, binders and straps.
  • Once the steel bar has been placed on the trailer it must be secured to the trailer with appropriate amount of chains.
  • A load bar is used to tighten the lever type binders, chains must be tight.
  • Steel bar must be oiled to avoid rusting
  • Steel bar cannot get wet, constantly check tarps for holes and have them repaired immediately.
  • When coil arrives at Laurel Steel remove securement devices and unload.
  • When required move trailers to the wire dock.
  • Fill in required load sheets and submit to dispatch.
  • Work in conjunction with Laurel Steel loading personnel and our dispatch staff as well as fellow shunt/loader personnel.

Job Requirements:


  • Must have a Valid G License
  • Must be safety oriented, with proper PPE, such as steel toed work boots, reflective vest, safety glasses with side shields, hard hat, hearing protection as well no shorts or tank tops.
  • Must be a team player as the job requires communication to run smoothly.
  • Must be able to follow instructions from dispatch.

Salary:
$20.00-$21.00 per hour

Experience:


  • Shunting: 1 year (preferred)
- skilled labour: 2 years (preferred)
