Overview

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with company policy, safety standards & quality standards
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. Inspects via appropriate measuring devices
  • Required to work with sanders (stroke, belt, orbital), and polishers
  • Manual / Physical rework of surface imperfections
  • Polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools, air tools and power tools as needed
  • Load and adjust work pieces onto equipment or work tables, using hand tools when needed
  • Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure polishing processes
  • Operate and Maintain equipment involved for the polishing process
  • Remove completed work pieces from equipment or work tables, using hand tools, and place work pieces in containers
  • Select abrasives according to materials, sizes and shapes of work pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes
  • Minimize scrap and rework
  • Effectively inspect your work for high accuracy and quality with attention to detail
  • Working to develop the facility to improve working efficiency
  • Participate in company crosstraining program (as trainee and trainer)
  • Adheres to all company policies & procedures, health and safety policies & procedures, regulations & standards, quality standards and good housekeeping 5S practices
  • Commit to and participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods
  • Will demonstrate, promote and exemplify the company's core values in safety, people, quality and growth
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:


  • High school diploma High school diploma, vocational, or technical training, or equivalent experience
  • Specialized experience in a custom fabrication environment preferred
  • 35 years of metal polishing experience (hand polishing)
  • Experience with power tools such as sanders (stroke, belt, orbital), and polishers
  • Experience with stainless steel, aluminum, other sheet metals and knowledge of its integrity
  • Need to understand the acceptance criteria for blemishes, scratches and other surface imperfections.
  • Practical knowledge and comprehension of quality procedures and machine shop methods
  • Must be able to follow direction and have good interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators
  • Ability to use pneumatic, electric and hand tools (common, pin crimpers, wire strippers, torque drivers, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, block diagrams and schematics and blueprints to understand product specifications and interpretation required
  • Good manual dexterity demonstrating fine motor skills for working with small components (handeye coordination)
  • Must have a positive attitude; possess good organization skills
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong English language comprehension
  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time

Physical Demands and Requirement

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

From $21.00 per hour
