Primary Purpose:


The Vice President Academic (VP Academic) is the Chief Academic Officer of Acsenda School of Management and provides leadership to the Academic area to achieve the overall Vision, Mission and Academic Goals of ASM, and the Academic and Strategic Plans, to meet quality assurance and compliance standards, and promote the ongoing improvement of teaching, curriculum and student learning outcomes.

The VP Academic contributes to the strategic development of ASM as a member of the senior leadership team by promoting excellence and innovation in all aspects of the academic programs and identifying opportunities to expand and improve program offerings to meet student and market demand.


Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:


  • Supports effective governance of the ASM through active engagement on the Senior Management Team in developing and monitoring the budget process, developing and implementing strategic objectives and annual priorities and providing relevant information and advice to the President, Academic and Governing Councils.
  • As the Chief Academic Officer, providing overall leadership of the Academic area and its people, ensuring employee alignment to institutional goals, procedures and policies.
  • The development and implementation of the Academic Plan and annual operational strategy plan provide exceptional learning experiences for students and achieve established outcomes.
  • Promotes an institution wide approach to Academic programs and services, student success and retention.
  • Contributes to the risk management framework by ensuring that ASM conforms to the conditions for consent for the academic programs granted by the Minster of Advanced Education as recommended by the Degree Quality Assessment Board to internal governance, provincial, federal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring Academic programs are appropriately staffed and resourced and operate within annual budgets.
  • Ensures the ongoing examination and improvements to programs and the development of new programs that are financially and operationally sustainable, lead to meaningful graduate outcomes, support and diversify enrolment growth and are consistent with the institution's goals and ministerial priorities.
  • Ensures the continuous improvement of faculty to support relevancy and currency of teaching and learning.
  • Develops and uses technology to enhance the quality and scalability of learning and experiences.
  • Organizes and conducts regular and systematic assessments of programs, courses and employees.
  • Leads successful, productive strategic partnerships and articulation agreements with professional bodies and other academic institutions and enhances connections with the business communities that ASM serves.
  • Recruits and develops high calibre employees and fosters a community of learning and supports individuals personal, professional and scholarly development.
  • Collaborates with other entities within the organization to ensure a collaborative work environment and effective delivery of shared services that promote institutional growth and success.
  • Provides regular reporting and measurement of institutional KPIs.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Skills:


  • Doctoral level degree.
  • A Business Administration Degree or related educational field is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated leadership success in faculty and academic management, quality assurance and program development.
