Job Description:
Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager, the Unit Supervisor is responsible for the smooth operation of the units including staffing and youth programming.
The Unit Supervisor also works with People and Culture to manage recruitment, accommodation, return to work and other staffing-related tasks.
As part of their managerial job responsibilities, the Unit Supervisor may be required to provide on-call services to the Syl Apps Youth Centre and the Intensive Support and Supervision Program (ISSP).
Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):
Supervising Front Line and Relief Staff- Daily management of staff, overseeing staff daily routines and operations with youth in unit, annual performance reviews, probationary performance appraisals
Coordinating Youths' Programs
- Court attendance, Plans of Care, Stakeholder calls/visits (Parents/Counsel/Workers), Allowances
Ad Hoc/ Administration
- Backup Program Coordinator role, participating in committee meetings, actively participate in plan of care meetings, Management meetings, Managing direct report schedules and human resource allocation in terms of prime and backup youth worker. Completing WSIB forms, participating in accommodation/ returntowork meetings, managing WSIB claim process (Similar with personal accommodations, leaves and short term disability), Participating on multidisciplinary team to ensure sufficient care of youth, Management of Youth property and permissions for personal belongings, High Needs tracking and reporting.
Continuing Education for All Staff
- Managing the review of policies and procedures with direct reports, facilitating training (For example: Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behavior)
Qualifications:
- Requires completion of Community College Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1 year practical or position related experience required
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and problem solving skills, and the ability to work flexibly within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong organizational behavior management skills.
- An ability to efficiently meet deadlines.
- Change management and program development skills and experience would be an asset.
- Excellent computer (MS Office) and presentation skills.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening), Pre-Employment Medical and proof of full COVID vaccination or approved exemption.
