The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and site administrative leadership during the evening and night shifts, weekend day shifts and statutory holidays.
The Clinical Supervisor uses clinical experience, knowledge and leadership skills to promote quality care, utilization of best practices consistent with current legislation, organizational policies and procedures, and the organization's Mission, Vision, Values, Ethics and strategic directions.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Current unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred
- Education and experience in managing and mentoring clinical unionized staff, preferred
- Three years of experience in a nursing supervisor role with relevant clinical practice with target populations such as Complex Medical Care, Palliative Care, Seniors Rehabilitation and/or Rehabilitation, Seniors Mental Health, Adult Mental Health, Forensic Mental Health
Position Responsibilities:
- Acts as a resource for the interprofessional team regarding policies, procedures and clinical practice
- Ensures that standards of care are in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Working closely with the manager, ensures that complaints from patients/clients, families and the public are addressed promptly and appropriately
- Acts as Officer-InCharge during evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays, as the only onsite management representative responsible for the effective utilization of human and other resources responsible for assuring quality of care, safety and security of a highly vulnerable, atrisk client populations served
- Reviews and contributes to developing recommendations related to Providence Care Hospital (PCH) risk management initiatives in collaboration with the clinical and support services teams.
- Participates in incident analysis reviews, complaint investigations, and incident debriefings.
- Reviews, completes assessment and any required follow up of all risk management software entries (SafetEnet) while on duty.
