The Edmonton Police Service requires four (4) Media Disclosure Specialists to fulfill critical roles in the Digital Evidence & Legacy Records Management Unit.

As a Media Disclosure Specialist, you will process audio and video recordings from Body-Worn Camera systems generated by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS).

You will also be responsible for the conversion, vetting, and redacting of digital media for court-ready evidence and court disclosure.


Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Examining a variety of digital multimedia evidence.
  • Ensuring media is correctly named and categorized to enable the retrieval and management of digital evidence.
  • Using various technologies and a range of software techniques to vet and/or convert media evidence.
  • Prioritizing court ready media or documents to meet defined deadlines.
  • Completing copies for disclosure submission requests in a time sensitive manner.
  • Liaising with Forensic Video Analysis Detail (FVAD) when video requires further analysis, enhancement, or editing.
  • Completing conversion of media and editing requests.
  • Responding to Crown requests for Body-Worn Camera recordings.
  • Maintaining digital media repository.
  • Performing other related duties.

Qualifications:


  • Completion of a 1year audiovisual/multimedia or related program from an approved institute/college.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with digital media files.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with media programs such as: Adobe Premiere Pro, AVS Converter, WavePad Sound Editor, and Omnivore.
  • Familiarity with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPP).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication, and display professionalism, sound judgement, and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information.
  • Success in this role requires a high degree of efficiency, thoroughness, and the ability to adapt to changing work priorities to meet disclosure requirements.
  • Experience working in court or police related environment would be considered an asset.
  • Applicants may be required to undergo a knowledge or skills assessment test.
  • As part of your prehire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.

Hours of Work:

40 hrs. per week, Monday - Friday, Subject to change.


Salary Range:

21M,
Salary Grade: 015, $ $34.78 (Hourly), $2, $2, Bi-Weekly), $57, $72, Annually).
