Work mode: Hybrid
Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON
Hours of work: 35 Hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary Ranges:
Jr. Planner $69, 273- $86,593 per annum plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual
Planner $ 73,482-$91,853 per annum plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual
Intermediate Planner $86,443-$108,052 per annum plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual
Principal Planner $96,785-$120,979 per annum plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual
The Planning and Development Services team is growing
We are looking for Jr Planners, Intermediate Planners and Principal Planners to support our high functioning teams.

- Work in collaboration with planners and other professionals from other Regional departments, area municipalities within and outside Peel Region and other review agencies
- Attend and participate in local and regional public meetings, area municipal planning initiatives and corporate initiatives
- Participate in a variety of special projects related to monitoring and improving processes, providing advice and service to Regional departments as a planning consultant on regional development submissions
- Prepare briefings and present to a variety of stakeholders involving Regional Council, Peel's Executive Leadership Team, Senior staff from other municipalities, conservation authorities, provincial ministries, regional departments legal counsel and public stakeholder groups.
- Represent and defend the Region's planning policies and interests at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) and other tribunals
What our various planning roles require:
- Honors degree in planning plus knowledge in the planning field such as environmental, resources, urban or rural, and/or land use planning
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners
- Years of experience in the planning field;
- 1 year of experience for Jr. Planner
- 3 years of experience for Planner
- 5 years of experience for Intermediate Planner and Principal Planner
- Knowledge of relevant industry legislation such as the Planning Act, Municipal Act and Provincial Plans
- Knowledge of Provincial, GTHA, regional and local growth management issues
- Knowledge of the Regional Official Plan, local official plans, the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement and Growth Plan
- Ability to act as expert witnesses at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) and other tribunals
Skills/Abilities:
- Sound communication skills displayed through verbal and written work
- Strong interpersonal and strategic thinking skills with the ability to support team members
- Strong problemsolving skills to help evaluate and provide recommendations
- Polished customer service skills with an ability to work with a collection of stakeholders
