Victoria Women's Transition House (VWTH) is looking for a part-time
Volunteer Program Coordinator to join our growing team.


We are a non-profit charity, providing emergency shelter, counselling and support services for women of all ages, with or without children, fleeing from intimate partner violence and abuse.

We are a vibrant, collaborative community looking for exceptional people to help us grow as we work towards our mission of ending intimate partner violence.


Details of the Position:

The Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for management of the Volunteer Program including the recruitment, selection and ongoing support of volunteers a well as the development and delivery of a training curriculum


This position:

  • Develops a clear vision, mission and plan for the Volunteer Program. Develops policies and procedures on an ongoing basis for the program.
  • Recruits, interviews, selects, schedules, coordinates and supervises volunteers throughout the agency. Orients and provides for training of staff and volunteers in the prog Evaluates the volunteers on a regular basis for job satisfaction and performance. Makes decisions for continued service, reassignment, or termination when necessary.
  • Evaluates the program, makes recommendations to the Program Manager and plans for implementation of recommendations as approved for the improvement of the prog
  • In conjunction with Program Managers, and as appropriate with other staff, identifies volunteer staffing needs of the program
  • Assesses volunteer abilities and ensures that appropriate and meaningful placement of volunteers is achieved.
  • Advocates for volunteers within the agency. Debriefs issues arising from volunteering. Maintains contact with volunteers and facilitates regular meetings and special trainings.
  • Provides appropriate and regular recognition of volunteers.
  • Maintains the Volunteer Program budget.
  • Maintains personnel files on all volunteers.
  • Ensures that records, statistics, and reports are accurate and up to date.

Qualifications:


This position supports an essential service working with direct client contact and requires union membership, satisfactory completion of a criminal records search, a class 5 drivers's license and drivers abstract, TB test and Standard First Aid Certificate.

Shift*21 hours per week. Flexible schedule to be determined in consultation with the successful applicant. Must be able to work some weekends and evenings as necessary.


Wage and Benefits:
