The role in a nutshell
In this newly created (and varied) role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Glencore Global Exploration activities are conducted within the parameters of the approved framework and comply with the various requirements.
You will play a key role in the implementation of controls and ensure that Glencore HSEC policies, guidelines, and procedures are consistently applied across all exploration countries.
You will also have a firm grasp on data-driven processes such as incidents reports, inspections, audits and risk management (to only name a few) and use your expertise to advance HSEC practices.
More specifically, you will be expected to:
- Engage, influence and advice Glencore exploration teams with best HSEC practices, and aid in the implementation of practical controls to keep teams safe;
- Lead, engage and influence internal and external stakeholders to implement the risk management inline with Glencore risk management best practices;
- Ensure that critical controls are identified and adequately communicated in all exploration countries;
- Provide coaching and mentoring in risk assessment methodologies;
- Gather critical HSEC information to be entered in Enablon and ensure the same is done for all exploration countries;
- Ensure incidents are reported, recorded, and investigated in a timely matter and that corrective actions are tracked and monitored in each country;
- Ensure that contract performance management is consistent and in place for all contractors;
- Identify environmental and social risks impacting exploration and ensure they are properly assessed and mitigated;
- Create a culture within exploration that is in line with the company values, promotes diversity and Human Rights;
- Recommend and implement HSEC Management Systems improvements.
Do you have what it takes?
- Formal Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental studies/degree or relevant experience;
- At least 5 years of experience in HSEC gained in mining and/or exploration activities;
- Proven experience in the implementation of HSEC Management Systems e.g. Risk Assessments and incident Investigations;
- Strong knowledge of systems. Internal Auditor experience is desirable;
- Familiar and competent with reporting systems like Enablon or Isometrix (desirable but not necessary);
- Proven experience in helicopter, remote field work and drilling rig safety;
- Proven experience working with communities and other stakeholders to maintain license to operate and explore is desirable.
Languages :
English (written and spoken). The knowledge of Spanish is a significant asset.
Travel:
You must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time and be ready to work with colleagues located across the globe.
