Core Assembler Level 1
Role
- Reporting to the Supervisor, Core Assembly Department, the L1 Core Assembler is responsible for Stack the core and insert core steel for a variety of transformer and reactor core types, perform the setup, layout, clamping and up righting of the core as well as preparation of the core for mounting of coils, layout and assemble transformer and reactor cores complete with top yoke assembly, mount coils and associated blocking, shunts, and top clamps and tie rods. All tasks described under, supervision and guidance._
Role Responsibilities:
- Performing the setup for a variety of core designs (On the floor)
- Stacking core
- Kitting woodwork packages
- Installing oil cooling ducts
- Preparing and mixing hysol
- Clamping and up righting the core (floor)
- Assisting and learning how to mount coils
- Stripping core, installing dowelling, install leg shields for coil mounting
- Setting up platforms for head steel, ensuring safe methods
- Assembling reactor core blocks/yoke
- Able to megger unit and record results
- Able to test fiber optic probes and record
- Installing clamps, brackets, step blocks, base bars, epoxy, tie rods, etc.
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 Education or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic Knowledge of hand and power tool use
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and work in a team environment
- Ability to work in both metric and imperial dimensions
- Basic mathematics knowledge. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Basic Knowledge of hand and power tool use
- Ability to learn how to read, understand and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications, and bill of material including terms as required to complete work assignments
- Previous assembly experience is an asset
- Manufacturing experience is an asset
