***Reporting to the Commissioner of Film and Media, the Locations Manager is responsible for maintaining the current sales pipeline as well as generate new, innovative productions opportunities. A strong sales background and proactive, collaborative, and engaging approach to tourism and/or industry development is required. Work requires a specialized professional competence with a broad understanding of program and industry inter-relationships. The incumbent has a demonstrated track record of relationship-building, revenue generation, and a demonstrated ability to land productions.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attract production companies by promoting our destination to the domestic and international film industry as a prime location for film and media.
  • Consult community partners, such as accommodations, suppliers, and transportation representatives to provide clients a desirable destination.
  • Build relationships within the industry such as community stakeholders, agencies, production companies, creative partners, and community residents.
  • Work with productions and community to acquire, and secure locations with a focus on endtoend productions.
  • Oversee scout tours, and liaison with community stakeholders to ensure proper permissions and logistics are obtained.
  • Ensure that locations are left in the same or better condition than when the production arrived.
  • Negotiate rates with property and business owners for the use of their location.
  • Leverage your experience and track record to meet and/or exceed sales expectations, as defined by leadership.
  • Demonstrate creativity and intuition in developing and closing new business.
  • Represent Tourism Kingston, its partners, and the community in a positive, professional and enthusiastic manner.
  • Solid understanding of various federal and provincial tax incentive programs available for TV, film and digital content production
  • Familiarity with private and public funding resources such as Canada Media Fund, Ontario Creates, Telefilm, Bell Fund, Shaw Rocket Fund, etc. Ability to identify and pursue opportunities for such resources to help support the goals of the Film & Media department of Tourism Kingston and advise/support independent producers as theyendeavor to tap these resources to secure financing for their productions.
  • Keen interest in industry events and ability/willingness to remain knowledgeable of industry news and activity. Capable of formulating/adapting strategies based on latest trends in rapidly changing industry.

EDUCATION
A degree in Arts Administration, Film and Media, Project Management, Business Administration or related field.


EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 10+ years of experience working in film production and location management.
A demonstrated broad-based knowledge of the film and media industry both locally, domestic, and internationally. Strong knowledge of Kingston and surrounding areas is a major asset.
