Civil Crown Counsel 1 (Less than four years of related experience):
$3,633.50 to $4,577.16 bi-weekly ($94,834 - $119,463/year)
Civil Crown Counsel 2 (Four years to 11 years of related experience):
$5,148.92 to $6,376.28 bi-weekly ($134,386 - $166,420/year)
Civil Crown Counsel 3 (More than 11 years of related experience):
$6,857.81 to $7,604.03 bi-weekly ($178,988 - $198,465/year)
Role:
Alberta Justice - Legal Services Division - has an opportunity for two lawyers to join the Infrastructure and Transportation and Economic Corridors Legal Team.
In these positions you will work in a collaborative team environment to provide advice on major capital projects for delivery by the Province; including schools, hospitals, roads and other publicly funded projects.
As part of the team, you will provide legal and strategic advice for the life cycle of various capital projects to ensure they are built in a way that maximizes value for Albertans.
These opportunities will involve work on some of the largest capital projects in Alberta, whether in the private or public realm.
We are looking for self-motivated individuals capable of taking on important responsibilities which include identifying legal risks and mitigation strategies throughout the life cycle of significant capital projects, including: land acquisition, procurements some of which will use P-3 financing models, construction (change orders, bonding, and enforcement of bonds), and construction claims management.

- Strong analytical, research and verbal skills, and superior written advocacy and communication abilities
- Strong contract drafting, interpretation and negotiating skills
- High flexibility and the ability to work within a project team or individually and respond quickly to address changing client needs, issues, and priorities
- Significant commercial or capital project experience in the private or public realm
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (JD)
Assets include specific experience providing legal advice on:
- Capital projects (schools, hospitals, roads and other publicly funded projects
- Public sector procurement and tendering
- Construction contracts
- Real property transactions
- Experience with P3 transactions and other capital project transactions involving alternate financing for public procurement
- Litigation experience involving construction related matters including change order disputes
