In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits and annual salary range of $69,386 - $115,642
Location - South campus. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in person

Position summary
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Support and Recreation Services, Facilities & Operations the Manager, Transportation Services is responsible for managing the University of Alberta's vehicle fleet and providing support to approximately 480 assets owned.
Using industry standard fleet management practices, you will lead a team of 9 members including an Automotive Shop Supervisor, Automatic Mechanic Technician, Garage attends, Logistics Coordination and a Fleet Management Coordinator and be accountable for developing and meeting a cost recovery budget of approximately $3M.
You will be responsible for managing the total cost ownership of the fleet from procurement, to operation, maintenance, repair, administration of and through to replacement and/or disposal.
Duties
- Provision of a full range of vehicles on a oneday to fullyear basis;
- Provision of buses and other rental vehicles from commercial sources;
- Legislative (Provincial/Federal) licensing and registrations for all eligible vehicles and equipment covered under the automotive policy including all department owned vehicles;
- Insurance coverage for all University vehicles and equipment covered under the Institution wide automotive policy;
- Documentation and handling of accident files, repair estimates and repairs for Transportation Service vehicles and other University associated assets on a cost recovery basis;
- Maintenance and repairs supply of parts, materials, fuels to its own fleet and other University associated users on a cost recovery basis; and
- Replacement of assets on a planned basis and assist other University groups with the purchase of vehicle assets.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in the operation and management of a commercial or organizational fleet;
- Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) designation or working towards CAFM designation;
- Supervisory experience in a fleet operation and/or automotive repair environment;
- Experience managing and operating a centralized fleet using 100% chargeback or cost recovery framework;
- Demonstrated progressive experience in financial/budgetary processes, spreadsheet and database management skills, rate setting, expense monitors and asset valuation in total commercial or organizational commercial fleet environment;
- Experience in determining vehicle conditions, when to repair and when to dispose;
- Experience managing and maintaining a licensed vehicle repair facility;
