Position Summary

  • The Manager of Quality and Interprofessional Practice is responsible for the development of structures and processes that support a collaborative, quality and patient focused interprofessional practice environment and the achievement of excellent clinical performance across the hospital in alignment with OSMH mission, vision and values.
  • The Manager ensures the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that support the professional development of staff and teams. These strategies will enable the provision of innovative, evidence and standards based care within a culture of continuous performance improvement and quality. This individual advises and works collaboratively with Management teams to address human resource and performance management needs to enable optimal professional performance and scope of practice utilization. This individual is responsible for the day to day management of the Quality and Interprofessional Practice team, and, as defined by the scope of the role, Professional Practice Leads (PPLs).
  • PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leadership:
  • Leads excellence in interprofessional practice and clinical performance through the development of innovative, evidence-based programs and services, education, and facilitation of continuous clinical performance improvement
  • Leads the development of processes to ensure maximum utilization of professional scopes of practice and ongoing development of individual, team and organizational performance capacity
  • Leads the development of common tools and deploys direct report resources to enable
directors/managers and other stakeholders to implement and sustain local professional practice and clinical performance initiatives including orientation, performance surveillance and directed improvement activities- Consults and advises staff and clinical management on professional standards, practices and regulations

  • Leads and supports evidencebased clinical practice change and clinical performance effectiveness in collaboration with QELs,, PPLs, and other team members
  • Leads review and modification of care delivery models within and across the clinical programs in order to maximize patient care outcomes, staff satisfaction and clinical efficiency
  • Leads and supports development and maintenance of evidencebased practice support documents (policies, procedures, standards of care, etc)
  • Acts as a role model, mentor and resource to individuals and teams across the organization with respect to interprofessional collaborative practice, patient focused care philosophy and continuous performance improvement and quality
  • Collaboratively, with the Director, leads the development and ongoing functioning of interprofessional practice and clinical performance governance structures
  • Scans the external and internal environments for legislative, regulatory and practice changes likely to impact the program and organization, anticipates and leads required actions
  • Advises and assists clinical management with staff recruitment, orientation, and professional development plans

Education:


  • Leads and supports the development of scholarly activities, including research and presentations
  • Demonstrates evidencebased practice and facilitates acquisition of evidencebased practice knowledge
  • Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of activities that promote cost effective continuous learning, including formal education and orientation programs at the clinical program and organizational levels
  • Supports student learning by assisting with student orientation, and facilitating a collaborative learning environment within and across the clinical programs
  • Leads the development of initiatives/programs to support staff in the supervision of student learners

Quality:

  • Leads the implementation of regulatory college or association quality assurance programs as required
